About Kathryn Lively

Kathryn Lively (1971-20??) is a woman of many responsibilities and very little time. She is an author, freelance book editor, book reviewer, webmistress, newsletter editor, Catholic, avid Beatles and Rush fan, and a voracious reader. In her spare time (if any) she sleeps, and even then her dreams are so vivid that she often wakes in the middle of the night. Perhaps one day she will add 'dream interpreter' to the list, but her plate is full as it is.

As an aspiring actor takes to the restaurant to wait tables while awaiting that Big Break, Kathryn has spent the past decade working for libraries, bookstores, and failed dot-com companies as a means of preparation for her Big Literary Break. A graduate of Jacksonville University in her native Jacksonville, Florida (BA '93, as Kathryn Beyerle), Kathryn has longed to write since her elementary school days. She sold her first short story at 19 to a now defunct Colorado magazine, and she contracted her first novel at 29. At this rate the Big Movie Rights Sell should be due in about eight years. In between and beyond that time she has written articles for religious and Internet magazines, greeting cards for national companies, and the occasional haiku. Sometimes she is even paid for her efforts.

In addition to Pithed, her published works include the EPPIE-nominated inspirational novel Little Flowers (currently out-of-print, seeking a new publisher), the thriller Dangerous Words (with Bob Stanton, Echelon Press, 2003), and Saints Preserve Us (Wings, 2003), the first book in the Ash Lake Mystery series, winner of the 2003 Florida Writers Association Royal Palm Award for Best Mystery.

Kathryn is a member of the Florida Writers Association, EPIC, and the Catholic Writers Association, for which she serves as webmaster and newsletter editor. Kathryn also served as a student judge for the Peabody Awards during her brief career as a graduate student at the University of Georgia in 1995, where she nearly refused admittance to Bill Moyers at the awards ceremony because he wasn't wearing his nametag. Kathryn presently resides in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia with her husband. No kids, no pets, but they're working on both.

The sequel to Saints, called Pray For Us Sinners, is set to be published in 2005. The second novel in the Andy Farmer mystery series, Collared, is currently in the first draft.
