As a death row defense attorney for the State of Florida, Ray Dix lived in the high-stakes world of providing the last line of defense for men and women sentenced to die. Dix came to the work after a stint in Army Intelligence and the Coast Guard Reserves. He grew up on Maryland's Eastern Shore, where, before he got serious about the law and writing, he designed and built boats. He has left Florida and is writing the next Woody Thomas novel while living on a small island in the Chesapeake Bay.
